Weekend recap

Another weekend in the books for dirt track racing in the area, as we inch closer to winter. With great weather this past weekend, also provided some great racing over the weekend at a few local tracks in the mountains and in central Kentucky.

The weekend of racing began in Isom at Mountain Motor Speedway, where Isom native Michael Wright posted the fast time, won his heat, and started on the front row of the feature. However, Wright's night didn't pan out the way he had hoped, as he got caught up with a lapped car and from reports done some serious damage to the car. The night however would end up belonging to Steve Stollings. He picked up the win over Joe King.

Late model feature finish: 1. Steve Stollings 2. Joe King 3. John Kincaid 4. Josh Hall 5. Raymond Nichols 6. Michael Wright 7. Steve Martin 8. Paul Davis (DNS) 9. Kenneth Howell (DNS)

Other winners where: Jamie Maggard (Mods); Tim Mason (Bombers); Logan Burke (4-cyl).

Willard Speedway also ran Friday night. Tyler Carpenter won in the limited late model division, followed by Richie Edwards and James Williamson. Shaun Holliday won open wheel mods, followed by David McWilliams and Jimmy Crabtree. Terry Hicks won sports mods over Todd Brumfield and Weston Crosby. Brian Sammons won bombers, followed by Brett Carey and Charlie Mullet. Shane Yates wins 4-cylinders, followed by PJ LeMasters and Roy Wilburn.

It was also announced on Willard's Facebook page that they would not be racing next weekend, due to the DTWC at Portsmouth. They had also plan to race on Saturday October 26th, but will be racing on Friday the 25th instead, because of the Halloween 50 at 201 on the 26th.

Ponderosa Speedway also had one of their biggest racing weekend's of the year this past weekend. They hosted the $3000 to win Ironman Classic Friday night and the $5000 to win Fall Classic Saturday night. Both nights seen a loaded field of cars.

35 cars entered Friday night, with the fast time going to Mike Marlar, who drove his brother Skylar's car. Marlar, Derek Fisher, Michael Chilton, and Greg Johnson where your 4 heat race winners. Your two B-main winners where, Jeff Watson and James Rice.

22 cars made the feature with Michael Chilton coming away with the win over Greg Johnson, Dustin Linville, Stephen Breeding, Derek Fisher, and Dustin Neat. Allen native Brandon Kinzer finished 9th.

On Saturday the Fall Classic seen 36 entries with the fast time award going to Dustin Linville, who winded up sweeping the night, as he won his heat and the A-main.

Heat race winners where: Dustin Linville, Brad Neat, Skylar Marlar, and Greg Johnson. B-main winners where: Stephen Breeding and Dan Schlieper.

Linville won the Fall Classic over Brad Neat, Greg Johnson, David Webb, Victor Lee, Brandon Kinzer, and James Rice. Notable local drivers: Chris Combs 8th, Stephen Breeding 9th, Shannon Thornsberry 16th, DJ Wells 18th, Derek Fisher 19th.

The two big pay day races around the country this weekend where at Pittsburgh, where racing legend Scott Bloomquist won $20,000 over Billy Moyer and at Magnolia, where Jimmy Owens won $25,000 over Billy Moyer Jr.
